Once the light turns green take a left onto Route 14 north. Continue on Rout 14 for .75 (3/4) miles then take a left onto Parkside Terrace. Clues

NOTE: I using pacing to identify certain markers and clues along the way. One pace is equal to approximately 30 inches. You can compare your paces to mine at the first pavilion near the parking area (the one located closest to the road). It takes me 17 paces to walk the length of the pavilion from end to end. If your paces are smaller than mine keep this in mind while you are following the clues.

To begin start at the parking lot with the four pavilions located just beyond the old baseball field. Walk past the cluster of three pavilions towards the south end of the parking lot and away from the Elementary school. At the edge of the woods beyond the pavilions there are two trails, the trail on the right leads to the Barre City Bike Path and the trail to the left heads down hill towards the Stevens Branch. Take the trail to the left.

Follow the trail for roughly 156 paces and note the large dead tree on your left covered with large mushrooms. A few more feet ahead there is an uprooted tree. Archaeologist will often examine the soil brought to the surface by these "tree throws" as a way to view the subsoil without needing to excavate. Tree throws may expose artifacts or features that were once hidden beneath the ground offering clues to past uses of the landscape.

Continue traveling past the tree throw until you pass over a log in the path. From here it is another 96 paces until the path divides. Stay to the right (straight) for another 11 paces. Then take a left where the four trails intersect and travel 17 paces. The letterbox is hidden on your right near the back of the old turbine.

To see a view of the falls return to the intersection of the four paths and take a left (continue straight on the path you came in on).
