I hid a sweet treat for anyone, but especially those who celebrate their birthday at Enchanted Rock. Enchanted Rock is a huge pink granite dome that rises 425 feet above ground and covers 640 acres. It is the second largest batholith in the United States made up of a single intrusion. Most batholiths are made up of sever intrusions and when combined are much larger than Enchanted Rock. Anyway, it is pretty awesome.

Enchanted Rock is approx. 20 miles north of Fredericksburg on FM 965. It costs $7.00 per person to get in.

To find the box start at the Southern trailhead of the Loop Trail. To reach the box hike along the loop trail. You will come to a steep hill where the gravel ends and you are on smooth rock. There will be a huge round orange rock with three protrusions from its top. If there are no other hikers around, turn right and walk around the base of rock. There is a small tree growing against its base and a larger vertical crack. Just past the crack is an area under the rock. You will find the box hidden there. CAUTION: USE A WALKING STICK TO GET THE BOX OUT AND TO RECOVER IT WITH THE LOOSE GRAVEL. THERE ARE CACTUS SPINES MIXED IN THE GRAVEL AND THEY HURT! Please re-hide the box as described and log the find on the internet so I know the box is well.
