Quiet Places Letterbox

Note: This letterbox series does not require much walking, just a short distance for one and just a "slight" climb up a banking on another. After Clue #2 there is a place to get an ice cream and just down the road a bit (on the same road) is a public beach, if you want to stop for a dip and enjoy the view.

I would rate this series an "EASY"

Quiet Places #1

From Route 16 North in Wakefield (at Palmers Motel) take a right onto Route 153 toward Effingham. Go about 1/2 mile, turn left to continue on to 153N. Drive approximately .2 miles. Look for Wiggin on the left side of the road. Park and go through the gate. Walk to the right. Look for a family that Mark Twain once penned. Go straight behind this family to the wall. Sit on the wall. You will find what you seek under the pine tree on your left.

Quiet Places #2

Continue on RT 153N approximately 5.6 miles until you see Woodman on the right. Turn right and drive straight to the end of the dirt road. Walk straight to the rear of the area. Look for the marker with a 27. Divide this number by 3 and multiply by 2. Turn left and walk until you find a marker that has this number. Turn toward the road and walk that amount of steps. Look to your right and you will see an unusual log. Search around this log and you will find your prize.

Quiet Places #3

Continue on RT 153N approximately 6.1 miles. Take a left on Stevens Road. Drive .2 miles (go real SLOW or you will miss it). Look for a stone wall on the right. Park and walk up the banking. On the top right inside corner is what you want to find.

For a fun stop turn around and go out the way you came in and take a right. Go to the sharp curve you just passed and stop at "Ye Ole Sale Shoppe". This is a very unusual gift shop. Say Hi to "Bill" the shop owner and tell him you are letterboxing.

Have Fun and hope you enjoy....
