Philomath is located just west of Corvallis. It was named for the colleges of philosphy and math, which is ironic since it's prime industry is logging. For as long as most people can remember Philomath has been a logging town. This letterbox series is dedicated to that industry and the hard working men that supported their families by swinging an ax.

Take Highway 34 to Applegate to 23rd to Philomath City Park.

Park in the closest parking spots and go afoot.

Be sure to enjoy the swings and the slides, laughter is good for the soul. Now hike down towards the back end of the park, when you find a rocky "u" stop and take a rest. To the right you will see a line of trees. The southern most cluster holds a secret in its heart. Please be discreet.

Now that you're rested, continue on around the path, but dont' get lost in the dip. When a line of evergreens meets the road, take time to study each one. From the last one, step backwards 19 steps. A hollow guardian holds your next box.

Now keep on hiking, the last box is hiding not to far away from your car. 3x12 is all the clues you need. (Yes this one is really there, I've gotten lots of reports of it being missing, but it's actually there. Just hard to find. Keep looking)

Happy hunting.
