My daughter and I put this letterbox together. It is our first plant. My daughter is hoping to receive a log book filled with stamps from its visitors. I made this series simple for beginner letterboxers. There are three boxes on the trail and should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

The boxes are located on the footpaths around Plainfield High School. If you are not familiar with Plainfield High School, take I-395 to exit 89, take a right at the end of ramp. Head straight until a T-intersection, take right onto Route 12 north. Plainfield High School will be on your left. DO NOT GO INTO MAIN ENTRANCE. Continue driving north on route 12, to the next left. Turn into here, this is the parking lot for the tennis courts and soccer fields. Park your car near the tennis courts.

Once out of your car, walk towards the tennis courts; there will be two paved paths take the one to the left. Do not take path to courts.

Walk on the paved path, the path will bend to the right. Keep going straight until you see a rock wall that is very close to the path (the wall edge is about a foot away from paved path). After this start looking to the trees on left and find the tree with a bird house. Once you find this tree, head towards the rock wall at the base of this tree. There will be a large rock at the base of the wall. Move a small rock on the left of the big rock to find box #1. Make sure to rehide well.

Return to the paved path and keep going in the same direction as before. Shortly you will come to opening in the woods on the left. Take trail through the woods. The trail goes along a fence, stay to the right. If option comes to go on paved path, do not go, stay on trail. Staying straight on trail, you will come to a 3’ stump with a fallen tree next to it. On the right side of the stump and tree, there is a large rock. Move the piece of dead wood to find box #2. Make sure to rehide well.

Return to trail and come out of the woods, a paved path is straight ahead. Take right onto paved path away from the high school.

When you get to the fork in the path, stay left. Walk a little ways until you come upon the opening in the woods on the right. There will be a trail with wood chips. Follow this trail through the woods, stay on trail do not exit. Keep going until the rock wall is in front of you. Looking at the rock wall, you will see the wall is broken on the right (There is a major V in the wall). Go off the trail to the broken area of the rock wall. There will be a rotted stump behind the rock wall. Box #3 will be found in its base. Rehide well.

Return to trail. You will be close to exit onto paved path. Take a left and head back to your vehicle. Hope you enjoyed this letterbox series.
