Easy Hike

Gretta Gecko and Cw Sun Seeker have hidden a box near Snow Canyon on the White Rock Trail. It is now a new handcarved stamp

The white rock is Navaho Sandstone formed from sand that blew into this area 183-193 million years ago and lithified through pressure and chemicals. Now it's breaking down again into sand.

From St. George, head north on Bluff Street. At the intersection of Bluff St. and Snow Canyon Parkway, Bluff St. becomes Highway 18. Continue on Hwy. 18, past the entrance to Snow Canyon. A short distance more on the left side, is the parking area for the White Rock Trail. Park there, and walk on the trail from the parking area.

Always follow the trail marker signs for the White Rock Trail. You will come to an oak tree in front of a "cement dam" (a wall about 2-3 ft. high, and several feet long). When there is water in it, you'll find lots of tadpoles! Look up at the top of the white rock slope, and see where there is a canyon, south/westward. Head up the white rock to the canyon.

When you reach the top of the white rock hill, there is a small canyon below, and a view of Snow Canyon with the red rock, to the south. Behind you is a view of Pine Valley Mountain. From the Snow Canyon view, with the red rock, look to the west on the slope of the side of the white rock hill. There is a Pinon pine tree and an oak tree together, and further to the right, is a juniper tree. On the west side of the juniper tree is a cairn (a small stack of rocks). North of the cairn about 7 feet are two predominant slanted rocks, overlapping. The uphill slanted rock is about 3 in. thick and the overlapping rock is much thicker. Look under the uphill slanted rock, on the north end. There are loose rocks hiding the box.
