Ima Hogg was an American philanthropist, patron and collector of the arts, and one of the most respected women in Texas during the 20th century. She was the daughter of Governor James "Big Jim" Hogg and her first name was taken from "The Fate of Marvin", an epic poem written by her uncle. The discovery of oil on her family's plantation made Hogg very wealthy, and she used this income to benefit the people of Texas until she died in 1975. She also collected art and antique furniture which can be seen at her Bayou Bend home, a museum operated by the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Adjacent to the home is the Hogg Bird Sanctuary, a wild setting ideal for bird watching and finding this letterbox.

Directions:
From Loop 610 go east on Memorial Drive to Westcott St. Turn right and park at back right side of lot near gravel trail.
