The McPolin Farm was purchased by the Citizens of Park City in 1990 to protect and enhance the entry corridor and maintain open space.
It is the most significant visual feature of the valley and a Park City entry corridor landmark.
It has been extensively refurbished, including stabilizing the barn, to maintain it. A hiking/skiing/biking trail is located along the upper edge of the property. The original 160-acre farm was homesteaded in 1886 by the Harrison McLane family and acquired by Isabelle and Dan McPolin around 1900. In 1908 the McPolins erected the barn of recycled timber salvaged from an old tailings mill. The barn was built by fitting timbers together without the use of nails. The barn is 7,468 square feet including the loft, and the milking parlor, added in the 1950's, is 1,500 square feet. Windows have been installed in the barn for public viewing.

*This box is only accessible when the snow has melted!*

To find our letterbox, park in the parking lot across HWY 224 and take the underground access tunnel to the farm. Or, take the FREE city bus, which stops right at the Barn.

With your back to Hwy 224, cross the bridge over the stream, and turn left off of the paved trail onto the lawn in front of the barn. Walk around the the barn in a clockwise direction. You will pass a narrow door in the wall. Keep walking around to the next corner. Here you will see the remains of a shorter barn door, about 4 feet high, with large hinges on the left side. Look down to the left for a loose stone by the door jamb on the ground. Gently remove this stone and look for our letterbox behind it.
Please replace the box and the stone carefully after you have stamped our logbook.
Happy hunting!
