Begin your hike in the parking lot of Meadowside Nature Center (at the end Meadowside Lane). Pass the large trail map that is posted in the south corner of the parking lot and proceed down the trail. Continue onto Rocky Ridge Trail. You will come to an open area with some benches. From here go left onto Backbone Trail. There are lots of downed trees here that we enjoy climbing on. Backbone Trail descends somewhat rapidly and you will see the north branch of Rock Creek on your right. Turn left onto Muncaster Mill Trail. We love crossing the rocks to the other side of the creek, but that isn’t necessary to find our box. Follow Muncaster Mill Trail a little ways, keeping your eye out for a tree marked “American Beech Tree”. When you come to that tree, stop, turn to your left and look up the hill. You will see an old tree stump up the hill and a little behind you. Our box is hiding on the right side of the tree stump in a little carved out hole. We covered it with some leaves and a big rock to keep it in place. It is well sheltered, but should be easy to see. Thanks for hunting for our box!
