Make your way to Lake Rd in Andover(off of Rte 6) and park along the side of the road. Note the East Coast Greenway sign marking the trail and head west. (This box can be reached from other starting points but this is the route I prefer.)
As you walk along the trail, note the Christmas trees on the right. Before too long, you'll pass over a small bridge. Christmas trees will still be along the right side of the trail but soon you'll note a yellow gate and many boulders on the left-hand side. Note the pole -a remnant of the time the Railroad passed this way. Be sure to stay on the main trail as there are some wide off-shoots to the side.
When the Christmas trees are left behind, you'll start to notice the banks rising up along the side of the trail. You are closer to your prize.
Soon you will see a covered bridge. My companion thinks of a fairy tale and offers this rhyming clue:
"As thoughts of goats fill your mind, peek underneath and see what you find."
On the left hand side, go around the guide post and follow the stone and concrete to a platform under the bridge. BE CAREFUL! Watch your step and don't bump your head. There are four "caves", your prize hides in the farthest one.
There is no ink in the box. We suggest green. Blue and green would be great.
Happy Hunting!
