The Hill Country Volkssportsverein hosted Halloween walks at Waring, an unincorporated community, eight miles southwest of Comfort, TX. Founded in 1887 the community was originally called Waringford. The name was changed to just Waring in 1901.
The walk went by the Waring School whose historical marker says that it was a one room school built in 1891. A second room was added in 1903. In the 1930s a brace was added to the back of the school to keep it from leaning. School was last held here in 1954.
I hid a Halloween themed box here. The school is at the corner of Manning and Ave. E. Park beside the school. Walk around behind the school to find the box. Go to the third window from the NE corner of the building. With your back to the window look straight ahead. The box is behind the tree under leaves and stuff!
