Allie’s Arboretum Letter box

This letter box trip will take you on the small loop around the Arboretum. It is a great small hike for younger kids or kids of all ages.

Start out on the paved path heading to the right side of the Arboretum.

1. Look for the gathering area. A small semi circle of rocks for sitting. Just behind the gathering area is a boulder on the left side of the path. Look behind and under the rock for stamp #1. Please replace back under the rock in the same area.

2. Continue on the paved path until you see a rock wall. The path takes you directly through with a rock wall on either side. Look in the rock wall on the Left side. Hidden in this rock wall is the 2nd stamp. Please replace it back into the wall and make sure it is covered with either a rock or some leaves near the top but out of sight.

3. Head in the same direction, and follow the path over the wooden bridge. You are now looking on your left for a tall tree. Adjoined with this tree is one that has been cut down to make a nice stump for sitting. If you were to “sit” on this stump and “rest” your feet to take a break, look under where you might put your feet to rest for the 3rd stamp. Please replace this stamp when you are done and make sure to cover it up with leaves/pine needles.

4. Head back to the trail and continue on the loop. You will now be looking for 2 BIG rocks next to each other on the Left. They are so close together they have created a crevasse. Look inside this crevasse for stamp #4. (Hint: Look low, not high for the crevasse) Please return stamp #4 back to its hiding spot.

5. Continue back on the path and pass by both ponds. Head straight until you see a sign that reads: Woodlands, Meadow and Bog Path. Take a right at this sign. Follow the path until you see a bench on your right. Just BEFORE the bench is a tree on the right. It looks like it has 2 trunks. Look behind the tree trunk under a small pile of rocks. There you will find stamp #5. Make sure to cover it back up with all the rocks so you can’t see it when you are done.

6. Now you are ready to find the final stamp. Continue on the path until you come to the wooden bridge. Do not cross over the bridge. Look underneath the bridge, on the left side, at the beginning of the bridge next to marker #2 to find stamp #6 and the notebook. Here you can sign and date the book, leave us your stamp, and leave a note for Allie!

We hope you have enjoyed the small loop at the Arboretum and Allie’s Birthday Letterbox. Leave her your stamp and a note to let her know what you thought!
