Rankin Johnson was a big-league pitcher. Born in Burnet he was son of the founder of Marble Falls. He attended two years of high school in Marble Falls, and started playing organized ball in 1908 for the Austin Senators of the Class C Texas League. During his big-league career he pitched for the Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals. He later managed a team and then became executive secretary for the Eastern League.

To find the box: Park at the pavilion in Johnson Park. Follow the walking path (creek on your right) to an old bridge. Read the interesting history and then cross the bridge. The first box is on the right near a hollow stump under a chunk on cement. To find the second box go left of the bridge and follow along creek to a two trunked tree. The box is at the base on the creek side.
