Clues

Find your way to the John B. Yeon State Park along I-84 in the Columbia River Gorge.

Park. Begin on "Elowah Falls Trail". Quickly you'll find a sign. Nesmith Point Tr (Right @ Fork). Continue 100 paces. Crooked Tree - On your Left - At the base.

Seriously? Yes, seriously, that's what I'm givin' you. It's a very short distance with a bit of an incline, into the beautiful green forest that borders the Columbia River.

Once you find the stamp (there's room for small hitch-hikers :-) Walk back down and take a look at the beautiful moss covered water tank depicted in the stamp.

I'm not sure why I named it "Water Tower"... It was supposed to be "Water Tank" but hey, it's placed, and you have an imagination? Please use it :-)

Getting There:
Get to the parking lot at the John B Yeon State Park, Elowah Falls Trailhead.

From Portland, drive I-84 eastward to Exit 35, marked Dodson. Turn left at the stop sign, then immediately turn right onto the frontage Road. Drive east on the frontage road 2.1 miles and turn right into the trailhead parking lot. The lot will be just before the road re-enters the highway.

From the east, take Exit 37, signed Warrendale. Head west on Warrendale Road for about 1/4 mile to a stop sign. Turn left, go under the freeway and turn left again on to Frontage Road. Drive 1/4 mile east to the trailhead parking lot just before the road re-enters the highway.

The Trail is clearly marked.
