~2/15/10 While out walking the pups today we checked on this series. The first box is definitely missing and will not be replaced.~

~8/11/07 This series has been cleaned up and replaced. There is now only one log book and it is in the second box. Also you will need to bring your own ink as none is provided.~

~This series has been pulled for maintenance 4/6/07~

This is the first series that we have put out. We hope you like it.
From the intersection of Routes 87 and 207 go East for 5.5 miles on Route 207 towards North Franklin. You will go through another intersection (Routes 32 and 207-continue straight). You will see Giddings Recreation Park on your right. Park in the parking lot. Park near the playground given by the 'LIONS'.

-Go to the evergreen near the playground by the 'LIONS' sign.
-Take a reading of 220 degrees.
-Head Southwest, keeping the pavilion on your right.
-Continue to the horseshoe pits.
-Enter the yellow blazed trail on the right here.
-When you come to a 'T', go left.
-Go down the hill, the horse ring will be on your right after a red building.
-Go across the meadow, passing the flag pole. DO NOT continue on the yellow blazed path.
-Once you cross the meadow there will be a four way intersection. Continue straight.
-Just before the path bends right look to your left at 120 degrees.
-Take 9 paces off the path to a double trunked tree.
-Look in the crotch for the LION.
PLEASE REHIDE WELL, VERY POPULAR PATH

-Go back to the path.
-Continue on the trail in the direction that you were traveling.
-Go 58 paces to a large evergreen that has 9 trunks growing from 1 base.
-Go to the South side base of this tree where the TIGER lays basking in the sun waiting for you under some pine needles.
-PLEASE REHIDE WELL, VERY POPULAR PATH

-Go back to the path and continue in the same direction that you were traveling in.
-The path now gets smaller and a bit twisty.
-As you continue you will see a small brook on the left.
-Keep going and you will see a short dead tree on your right as the path bends left.
-Go 48 paces from the dead tree.
-You will have just passed over a small waterway and a metal barrel will be on the left side of the path.
-Go off the path to an arched dead tree past the barrel.
-Maybe the BEAR knocked it over.
-Go to the West side of this tree and look up to find the BEAR.
-PLEASE REHIDE WELL, VERY POPULAR PATH

-To return to your car go back to the path and continue in the same direction that you were traveling.
-At the four way intersection go right.
-At the next four way intersection go left back across the meadow.
-The red building will now be on your left.
-Go up the gravel hill (don't forget Cats and Dogs) to the top.
-At the top you will see the fields and courts.
-Go right to get back to the parking lot.

Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under the pavilion while the kids play on the playground. It's what we used to do.

We hope you enjoyed the hike and PLEASE be very discreet when stamping in as this is a very popular path.
