Chartered as South Texas State Teachers College in 1917, it did not open until 1925 because of America's entry into World War I, The University is the oldest continuously operating public institution of higher learning in South Texas. The University became a member of the Texas A&M University System in 1989 and in 1993 its name was changed to Texas A&M University-Kingsville to reflect that membership.

To find the box for the clock tower go to Kingville's Resthaven Cemetery. Stand in front of the open bible displaying the Lord's Prayer. This box is hidden at the base of the cedar on the right. Please rehide well.
