Blacky the Bunny’s Burrow
Canyon Rim Park, Redmond, Oregon
1.At the Canyon Rim Park, descend into the dry canyon to embark upon your adventure.
2.At the bottom of the hill, you have three choices.
a.Heading towards a wall of rock
b.Three concrete rainbows of morning, noon and night
c.Or a path of open sage and dirt.
…Head in the direction where a leprechaun would stash his pot of gold.
3.Continue along the path that leads towards the leprechaun treasure. Soon you will see a brown sign with a choice to follow a different path. Bike and Hike or walk on the path already followed. It’s your choice, but there is only one right answer and the choice of change often leads to things gained!
4.As you continue towards your goal, you will go up and down. By the lone Juniper on our right, enjoy the roller coaster ride of a trail.
5.Pass through the cement rainbow that is closest to the setting sun.
6.Watch out for the giant boulder on your left as you go down a slope. Soon your path will merge with a larger path. Go Big or go home.
7.As you round the bend watch for two fallen sentries on your right. Aged, weathered and broken, they lay on the ground.
8. A divergence of three. Faint on the right, even more faint on the left. Take the path less traveled-flanked by three old Juniper guards, all in a row leading to a rise of stone.
9.Follow the path and ascend the rocky rise and travel between two junipers…one bows low to say hello.
10.Continue approximately 185 feet until you see the rocky hummock covered in moss and lichen.
11.Three young plants; sage, juniper and bitterbrush grow in a row. Find the biggest plant and look behind it. Burrowed into the rocks you will find your black bunny.
