It was a dark and stormy night.... flashes of lightning flew across the sky followed by the deep rolling sound of thunder. The waves were big and tossed the ship violently on the water. Captain Barbossa was on his way to find the lost treasure of Sarasota bay. It has been said that millions of golden "sand dollars" sit at the bottom of the bay guarded by the Bay's most ferocious warriors, the MANATEE! Considered to be the cow of the sea the manatee never left its position. The waves grew stronger and the rain grew heavier. Visibility was starting to lessen but Barbossa would not turn around. He knew he was close. Sadly, not all treasure finds end in a success. Before being able to act Barbossa's ship was tossed down by the violently waves. It has been said that when the sun is at its highest, if you know here too look, you can find Barbossa's sunken ship. No one knows if he ever found the treasure but you are soon to find out. I have discovered the clue to find Barbossa's ship! Unfortunately, I myself, am not strong enough to go on this journey... thats why i leave this daunting task up to you! Good luck treasure hunter!

Go over the New Pass bridge towards Longboat Key. Once you go over the bridge there should be a small parking lot on the left, also known as Overlook park. Find the path under the bridge and follow to trail map. Take the path to the uplands (the beach path). Continue on this path until you come to a bridge. Go over the bridge and make the first left onto a pier. On the pier there should be a sign that reads "Natural Lagoon, Time and Tide". Go back to the entrance to the pier. Now go back on the pier looking for the second post on the left. On the far side of the post there will be a nail. Attached to the nail will be fishing line. While leaving the fishing line on the nail pull the other end of it out of the water. Attached should be the Letterbox.

I hope you have a great time with this letterbox. It would be best to bring a towel to dry the box when you take it out of the water. When placing it back please be careful to make sure you "swing it" under the pier so it does not get found when the water is shallow. Also make sure it is firmly attached to the nail.

Thanks and Happy Hunting!!
