The Story

TJB was an adventurer, a buffalo hunter, and had experience writing codes. While searching for buffalo and other animals in the Southwest, he and his men discovered gold by accident. The mine would also yield silver. Not wanting to leave the treasurer so far from home, it was decided it be transported back East. Along the way, some of the gold and silver were traded for jewels which are lighter to transport. He buried the treasure estimated in 2012 to be worth $93 million dollars and wrote three ciphers- one describing the contents, one giving his men’s names and heirs, and another giving direction to the hidden cache. He gave the codes to a trusted friend with the instructions that he not look at them for 10 years as he was planning to return before that time. Alas! He didn’t make it back. The friend was unable to decipher the codes so he passed them on to another friend who worked on them for years. Eventually, the one describing the treasure and the one with names were solved. The last, the directions to the cache, has not been solved. Or at least, that’s how the story goes.
