O. P. Schnabel Park, first called Bandera Road Park, includes 202 acres purchased by the City in 1964. The site was noted for its many oak trees, mountain laurels and other native vegetation. Because its natural beauty was in keeping with the interests of O.P. Schnabel, the park was renamed in his honor in 1977 and has been called "the cleanest little park in Texas".

Directions:
From Loop 1604 go southeast on TX 16 for about 2 miles to Braun Rd. Turn left into O.P. Schnabel Park, go past the YMCA, left at intersection, then park in lot on right by playground.

Clues:
Walk on main trail by playground about 20 yards then go left on smaller paved trail. Continue as it goes past playground on your left to a sharp bend right with dirt path branching off to the left near a trail post. Go left on path 30 steps then right on smaller path for 25 steps. Go right off trail 10 steps to a gnarly old tree with minibox in hollow branch 3 feet high on back side covered with sticks.
