This letterbox is part of the GO and Experiment! program. It will be available from June 1, 2014 - August 17, 2014. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
Through the GO and Experiment! program, you will be searching for "scientific terms" – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into your GO and Experiment! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at the Horn Farm Center for Agricultural Education in Hellam Township. GO York level of difficulty = Easy
Park in the gravel lot in front of the greenhouse.
Carefully cross the road and locate the Horn Farm Center on the side of the brick wall. Walk to the right of the sign toward the lamp post.
Check out the Pollinator Garden in front of you and, turning left, walk along the back of the square area surrounded by a white fence. You may want to see what this area is.
Walk past the green benches, continuing slightly uphill and past the smaller brick building.
When you reach the end of the gardens, turn right and continue past the water pumps and Community Gardens information board.
Before you reach the field, you will notice a birdhouse near a water spigot. The rubbing post should be nearby.
To return to your vehicle, return back along the path and continue straight behind both brick buildings. You should pass two fire pits and a few picnic tables before reaching the road.
