This letterbox is part of the GO and Experiment! program. It will be available from June 1, 2014 - August 17, 2014. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
Through the GO and Experiment! program, you will be searching for "scientific terms" – wooden posts with engraved plates on them – instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate into your GO and Experiment! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Highpoint County Park. GO York level of difficulty = Moderate
From the parking area, walk through the opening in the wooden fence and continue on the gravel trail as it winds uphill.
Turn left at the first mowed path. This grassy trail should be before the first set of boulder benches.
Continue straight at the intersection. The path will continue along the edge of the woods and field.
Follow the trail for 200 yards – approximately the length of two football fields – until you arrive at the post.
To return to your vehicle, remain on the trail as it climbs back uphill. When you reach the gravel path, turn right and continue downhill to the parking area.
