Hi everyone! We are a 3rd grade Brownie Girl Scout troop and making a Letterbox was our last step towards earning our Letterbox badge. As part of the badge requirements, we've already made our own stamps simply out of sponges and foam stickers, and we had loads of fun hunting down Letterboxes at Devil's Den Preserve in Weston, CT. We hope you enjoy searching for our Letterboxes here at the Westport Library. When you find it, please stamp our logbook and let us know where you are from. We can't wait to hear from you!
So here we go...
1. Start at the lower level entrance of the Westport Library, located at 20 Jessup Road. Enter and walk straight, go up the stairs and to the left visit the café! Bet you can’t help but to buy something good to eat. Did you know the café carries almost all locally made foods.
2. Walk into the main floor and find a large tent-looking structure. Go in! You should find yourself in the “Maker Space” where you can use technology to help you make all kinds of things.
3. Walk toward the front desk and find the elevator. Take a ride up to the third floor. Exit elevator, turn left and enter the Children’s Library door.
4. Once you are inside walk straight as far as you can go and veer right to find the Toddler’s play section go to the window and check out the beautiful view of the Saugatuck River.
5. Turn around and go to the Children’s Librarian’s Desk. Look left and find shelf #2. Stand at the beginning of the aisle for shelf #2 and take 5 steps into the aisle and look to the right on the top shelf. Find a green binder with the code: J595.789 Troop #50192. Enjoy our letterbox!
