Windy Gap Watchable Wildlife Area is located at Windy Gap Reservoir on the Colorado River and provides many opportunities to see native birds and migratory waterfowl. It is on the Colorado River Headwaters Scenic Byway, which traces the mighty river from State Bridge to its source near Grand Lake.
Directions:
Windy Gap Watchable Wildlife Area is on the south side of US 40 at its junction with CO 125, about two miles west of Grandby. Park at east end near trail head.
Clues:
Walk east on trail to furthest viewing area at end of trail. From far end of stone wall walk 18 steps across a gully and up a small ridge to a group of rocks. Minibox is under the biggest rock covered by smaller ones.
