Box #1 "Admit One"
Once at the Garthright House Park entrance, park in the lot to the left. From the parking lot, follow the asphalt pathway to the "Cold Harbor Battlefield Walking Trail" sign.
Take the trail to the right of the sign into the woods. Go past the first information sign on the right, "The Battle Opens". Continue to the "Y" in the trail, there, turn right at the small, brown, "Garthright House"sign. Near the end of this pathway, you will see an "End Park Boundary" sign on the left. You must enter the woods at this point, leaving the trail. Just behind the sign, off the trail, there will be a young, medium OAK tree. Walk about 20 feet away from the Oak, & to the left, you will see a fairly large "V" shaped GUM MAPLE tree. Just inside the "V", under a smaller log, you will find box #1!
Box #2, "The Golden Rule"
Return to the asphalt pathway and go right, back to the "Y. Turn right at the "Y" & follow the path, crossing over a small creek, & passing the next information sign "From Farmland to Forest". A small distance farther, up the hill, there will be a PICNIC TABLE on the left. Stand at the far end of picnic table, facing the woods. From here, at about THE 1:00 POSITION, there will be 3 large PINE TREES, standing about 10 ft. apart from one another, & almost in a triangular shape. From the MIDDLE PINE TREE, walk 20-25 steps into the woods, & look for 2 OAK TREES, one in front of the other. Go to the 2nd, larger OAK & at approximately 1:00 from this OAK TREE, walk about 35-40 steps, until you see a 1 ft high, PINE STUMP with pine bark Tee-Pee'd on top of it. Look INSIDE the stump, there you will find box #2!
Box #3, "Bravo"!
Return to the picnic table and turn left. Follow the path to the next "Y" & turn right at the small, brown sign, "Rifle Pits". Continue down path to the information sign at the end, "Union Reserve Line". To the right of this sign, on the other side of the rifle pit, you will see a large "V" shaped OAK TREE with a hole in the bottom of it's trunk. Stand on the opposite side of this Oak tree, & from there, walk straight back to a larger, Poplar tree. It too has a "V" shape but the right side is missing. At the base of this tree, you will see a LARGE FALLEN LOG, lying parallel. Look inside the split in the log, there you will find box #3!
