The Bluebird Trail and Outdoor Environmental Education Center at High Rock Preserve

*30 minute walk roundtrip
*You may park at the OEEC (Outdoor Environmental Education Center); the entrance to the trail is to the right of the parking area, about two telephone poles down the road.

1. Enter path and walk down rock stairs
2. Follow the path under and then along the power lines. Then make a right, crossing under the power lines.
3. Enter the woods where a tree is marked in blue.
4. The path is cleared with ferns on each side. Walk up hill.
5. Follow the path as it bends to the left and continue through the break in the stone wall. If you have the time, enjoy a walk along the looped trail. (You will end up returning to the stone wall.) Look out for bluebirds; they are common here.

Also, depending on the time of year, you may find Queen Anne’s Lace, milkweed, and wild blackberry bushes.

6. Re-enter the woods and stop at the stone wall you passed by before.
7. On the right-hand side of the stone wall, you will see one large stone on top of another. The bottom rock has white stripes. It is near a tree wrapped with barbed wire…Be careful!
8. Only two steps off of the trail, between these two rocks in the stone wall, you will find what you are looking for.
9. Be sure to put the box back the way you found it.
