This letterbox was a group effort of the kids of the Misbach families who camp at Hammonassett every year. To get to Hammonasseet State Park follow the directions here:
http://www.ct.gov/deep/cwp/view.asp?a=2716&q=325210
Go through the campground entrance and park in the visitor parking lot. Walk past the campground office in the direction of the beach. Make your way to the playground in the campground.
With the beach at your back, take a left out of the playground and walk down the street. When you reach the dumpsters, take a right onto Q Street.
After you pass site 7, you will enter the Trail of Doom by a path into the woods on your left. Walk down the path until you reach the marsh.
Take a right and walk 15 steps on the Trail of Doom, keeping the marsh on your left. Stop and look to your right for an old spooky stump. The letterbox is hidden around the stump.
Please stamp, sign, and put back so others can have fun finding our Trail of Doom letterbox.
