Go to Hopemead State Park on Cottage Road.
From Oakdale, pass Laurel Lock Family Campground and there are a few places to park on the left side of the road.
Follow the trail to a rock wall that is close enough to see the water.
After the wall go straight ahead toward the water (instead of following the trail to the right).
On your right there will be an old root cellar.
Above the cellar there is big, unusual, twisty tree with many holes/hiding places.
