Park by the ranger’s house and start on the RED trail. At the first split in the trail, walk about 30 paces and there will be a large, split oak tree on the left side of the trail. Check carefully around this tree for a letterbox. This is a bonus box (box 4) from Finding Forest Friends.
Dog Truth 1
At the next fork in the trail, take the steep hill to the right and pause for a minute at the bench. Then continue going to the right on the RED trail. About 30 paces before a HUGE down tree on the right side of the trail (and 100 paces before the red trail meets up with the black trail), there is a hollowed-out stump about 7 feet high on the left side of the trail. This is where you will find your first letterbox.
Dog Truth 2
Continue on the RED trail past the brown house on your left-hand side. Just past the house a marsh area begins (you can also see Hwy 167 from here). Check around the downed trees on the left side of the trail carefully for letterbox #2.
Dog Truth 3
There is an area where the RED/BLACK trail meet-up with the yellow trail. Stay on the RED/BLACK/YELLOW trail and stop at the 1st trail marker on the left. Here are many rotten logs. Look for a very secret hiding spot for letterbox #3.
Cat Truth
Follow the RED/BLACK trail until you are adjacent to Friess Lake. Keep walking past the bench that looks like it was made for a Giant right next to the lake. Shortly after this look up to your right. Once you see the 2 brown shelters at the top of the hill stop, look by all the downed trees on your left for letterbox #4 but don’t fall in the lake!
You can follow the RED trail back to the ranger’s house or take the large concrete steps up to the playground!
