Enter the Town Woods from the Sussex Rd. entrance. You will see the “Guide to Brooks Parkhurst Town Forest “ kiosk on your left. Go past the sign 30 feet and take the path to the left.
Follow this trail past a large boulder on your left and up a small incline. Cross the stream over the three-plank bridge and continue straight up the next hill, all the way to the top.
As you continue down the other side of the hill the trail forks. Stay to the left.
About 150 feet down this path, before it meets up with any other trail, on your right you will see a large, old, dead tree partially knocked over. Turn right facing the old tree’s trunk (about 50 degrees on a compass) and walk into the brush past the trunk about 150 feet.
Split Rock is a large boulder approximately 5 feet tall and 15 feet in length. It looks as if the rock split into two sections leaving a 3-foot gap between sections.
The letterbox is on the ground between the two sections covered by leaves and branches.
