Visited this box on 3/31/13 and it is in great shape! Replaced the log book. Great to see this box enjoying 10 years in its home here.

The box is less than half a mile up a moderate hill. This area has been affected by recent storms and high winds and there are a lot of downed trees and branches but the paths are clear of debris for your hike.

On Grove Street in New Milford you will find Lovers Leap Bridge where there is a small parking area to the left of the red bridge and a larger parking area to the right of the bridge. Park and head up the hill staying on the main trail - a wide dirt trail with the water on your right. At the top of the hill turn left and take the trail heading uphill into the woods.

At the fork take an 80 degree reading and plan to take that trail. From the large triple trunk tree on your left count 36 steps (18 paces). Take a reading of 320 degrees and look for the outcropping on top of the hill. Head in that direction for 20 steps (10 paces). Here is where you will need to negotiate some downed trees and branches.

Look directly behind the tree (with the small hole in the base) for the box nesting in the natural shelter.

Be sure to check out the view overlooking the water back at the top of the first path you traveled before going back down the hill to the car.
