Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 0.5 mile RT)
Status: alive
If you've ever been to a park that allows off-leash dogs and bikes on the same trails, you know they can clash. Walnut Creek Park is such a park with lots of trails for both to share, and this letterbox shows one possible solution, albeit not a feasible one.
Directions:
From I35 go west on Yager Ln about 0.4 mile to N Lamar Blvd. Go left (south) about 0.2 mile and turn right into Walnut Creek Park. Go about 0.5 mile to baseball field on right and park.
Clues:
Cross road to trail head with sign saying dogs off leash and walk a little ways to T jct. Go right and right again in a few steps at Y jct. Go right again at Y jct with a sign and continue behind maintenance facility, then across the creek to a T jct. Go right past metal power tower to Y jct and go right, then right again in a few steps at another Y jct with sign saying Tar Branch trail. Go 20 steps then left off trail 8 steps to a large multi-trunk cedar tree. LB is within trunks 3 feet high under rocks and needles. NOTE: A letterboxer emailed the following change to the clues: The power line just before the Tar Branch signopost has been bulldozed to clear the easement, obliterating the first y junction, so midline of the power lines is about 10 steps before the Tar Branch Trail sign.
