Trail difficulty: easy, mostly a flat paved path.
Walk distance: about 1/10 mile one way
Stamp hand-carved.
Status: alive and well on April 4, 2016
This box is placed along Golf Links Road.
In central Tucson, from Golf Links Road, drive north on Craycroft Road. Or, from 22nd Street, Broadway Boulevard, or Speedway Boulevard, drive south on Craycroft Road. Turn west on 29th Street. Drive for about 6 blocks and turn south into Freedom Park. Drive to the back east side and park.
Walk south along the eastern edge of the park, over the berm, to the paved path that runs along the north side of the wash. Turn right (west). Walk over the bridge. After exiting the bridge, continue on the path to the 2nd lamp post with a concrete base. From the lamp, go at about 340 degrees (from mag. north) for about 40 steps to a Mesquite tree with its trunk almost parallel with the ground. The box is under the trunk under a flat gray rock covered with some plant debris.
Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag) and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the one rock and covered with some twigs and plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.
This letterbox was placed for the 11th Annual Tucson Letterboxers Gathering.
Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ or at www.atlasquest.com/ .
