**** Part of the Other Forts of Texas Series ****

Here is the history of the fort from Texas Online History:
Moore's Fort, near La Grange in Fayette County, was a twin blockhouse built in 1828 by John Henry Moore as a place of defense against Indians. The Texas Centennial Commission placed a marker at the site in 1936. The American Legion of La Grange occupied the site in 1994.

Directions:
From Downtown La Grange, take Hwy 77 North, past Hwy 71, and turn left on VFW Hall (see sign for Czech Heritage Park). Take first right on Veterans Memorial and go all the way to back of park to the VFW hall. Park on left near swing set.

To the Letterbox:
Walk to the far end of the swing set. Climb on top of supports and reach in the end of the upper pipe to find the box. You may need a stick to fish it out.
