Girl Scout troop 44101, out of Parkland, WA, planted this letterbox as part of our letterboxing badge. It includes a hand-carved stamp representing our troop crest, the unicorn. The unicorn stands for courage, which is really important to us because Girl Scouts “builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.” You may notice also that the very top of Spire Rock looks like a unicorn horn.

Spire Rock is in the same parking lot as Sprinker Recreation Center. Park in the back of the Sprinker parking lot, near the entrance of Bresemann Forest. You will see a large rock called Spire rock, used to practice rock climbing. You will begin your journey at this rock.

Starting from the light pole next to the path at Spire Rock, you will follow the rock path until you reach the second, smaller rock. On the left side of the rock, you will see the words “Index town wall” in relief. Follow the path that goes around the left of the rock.

Head down the little hill at the back side of the rock until you meet up with the path. Right as you start on the path, you will see a group of four skinny trees. You will find a rock at the base of the trees. Look behind it for the letterbox.

This can be a muggle-heavy area, especially in the summer, so please be very careful when pulling out the box. Be sure to replace the box so that it cannot be seen from the path. The box should be watertight if the top is sealed down all the way.

Please let us know if our box needs any maintenance so we can take care of that. And in the spirit of Girl Scouts, please leave this park a little cleaner than you found it!
