Trail difficulty: fairly easy, some walking off trail over and around rocks.
Walk distance: very short.
Stamp hand-carved.
Status: alive and well on December 11, 2015

This letterbox is placed amongst some volcanic rocks that are part of what has been named the Sentinel Volcanic Field. The rocks are basalt formed from lava flows originating from some small shield volcanoes in the area erupting approximately 3.3 to 1.3 million years ago.

Driving westbound on I-8 west of the small community of Sentinel, turn in to the Sentinel Rest Area which is near mile marker 85. Park near the last parking space on the right.

From light pole #5016C, walk at about 300 degrees (from mag. north) for about 160 steps to a Palo Verde Tree. From the right edge of this tree, go at about 340 degrees for about 7 steps to a Creosote Bush. The box is under its west side under a rock.

Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag) and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the rock and covered with some plant debris so that it can not be seen from any direction.

Please record your find at www.letterboxing.org/ or at www.atlasquest.com/ .
