This letterbox is part of the GO and Find Your Hero! program in York County, PA. It will be available from May 30, 2015- August 16, 2015. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Find Your Hero! program requires you to search for up to 30 “autographs” of community heroes. These “autographs” are wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate onto your GO and Find Your Hero! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at Codorus State Park and may be accessed from the Mary Ann Furnace parking area. GO York! level of difficulty = Hard
- From the parking lot, cross the metal bridge and follow the trail out along the swamp and across a long wood bridge.
- After crossing the bridge, follow the trail up the hill to the first intersection and turn left.
- Follow the trail for a few hundred yards until cross another small wooden bridge.
- At the next trail intersection, turn left and follow the trail down the hill.
- Continue to follow the trail down the hill. Where a trail branches off continue walking straight, following the trail down near the water’s edge.
- The autograph will be located near the water’s edge.
- To return to your vehicle, turn around and retrace your steps back to the parking area.
