This letterbox is part of the GO and Find Your Hero! program in York County, PA. It will be available from May 30, 2015- August 16, 2015. Further details about the program may be found at www.goyork.org.
The GO and Find Your Hero! program requires you to search for up to 30 “autographs” of community heroes. These “autographs” are wooden posts with engraved plates on them, instead of a traditional letterbox and stamp. Please carefully rub the impression from the engraved plate onto your GO and Find Your Hero! rubbing page, available at any York County library.
The letterbox is located at William H. Kain County Park and may be accessed from the Lake Williams parking area. GO York! level of difficulty = Hard
- From the parking lot walk to the bulletin board located near the bathrooms.
- From the bulletin board walk toward the road intersection.
- Follow the driveway out past the one Do Not Enter sign. Watch for cars. At the yellow gate on your left, make a left and follow the trail up the hill.
- At the intersection at the top of the hill turn right. The trail will head up a gentle hill.
- At the next Y in the trail take the trail to the left.
- After walking a few hundred yards you will come to another intersection. At this intersection make a left.
- Continue to follow the trail out along the hill and then down a hill.
- You will find the autograph by the multi-stemmed tree.
- After finding the autograph, continue to follow the trail down the hill. On both sides of the trail an invasive species removal project was completed one year ago.
- At the next trail intersection make a left. The lake will be on your right shortly.
- Continue following the trail to the next intersection, and walk straight across the intersection and down the hill to the yellow gate.
- Make a right at the yellow gate and return to your vehicle.
