MUST HAVE COMPASS and MILITARY ID OR ESCORT TO FIND:
Welcome to U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys.

Located within the seaport city of Pyeongtaek, along the western coast of South Korea, and approximately 40 miles south of Seoul, Camp Humphreys is home to the Army's most active airfield in the Pacific and the center of the largest construction and transformation project in the U.S. Department of Defense's history.

In the coming years, the Camp Humphreys military community population will more than triple in size, from 10,000 to 36,000 Soldiers, Civilians, and their Family members.

On 2 September 2011, U.S. and South Korean officials participated in a joint groundbreaking ceremony to mark the beginning of construction for an elementary school to accommodate 850 students and high school to accommodate 950 students on Camp Humphreys.

By train to Pyeongtaek, from Daegu and points south: KTX to Cheonan-Asan and either Mugunghwa Line, Saemaul Line or Metro Line 1 to Pyeongtaek Station (Note: if you take KTX, transfer to Asan Station - a 5 minute walk). Takes about 2.5 hours. The Mugunghwa from Daegu to Pyeongtaek is 3 hours. Taxi from Ptaek Station to Anjeong-ri/Cp Humphreys Main Gate/Pedestrian Gate around 6,000 Won (10 mins). Bus #20 from Ptaek Station to Pedestrian Gate 1,000Won (20 mins). By car from Daegu and points south: Take Expressway #1 (Gyeongbu Expy) west. Shortly after Gumi take Expy 45 north toward Sangju. Take Expy 30 (Cheongwon-Sangju Expy) west to Expy 1 (Gyeongbu Expy) and go north to Anseong Exit (Hwy 38). After toll booth take left on Hwy 38 (Camp Humphreys sign). Drive 10 mins. to a right on Hwy 45 at Paengseong exit and go south on Hwy 45.

This year Girl Scouts Brownies group 301 full of military and DOD children learned about Letterboxing. We wanted you to know about our little world here in the Asia Pacific. We have hidden our letterbox on post for you to find.

Once you make it to the main gate of post and passed security you will take a left. Immediately to your right you will see some ball fields. Directly in front of you, you will see a hill and an access road to your left. Take the access road around the hill and then up to the center roundabout. At this point you will need to be on foot. Start at the center of the roundabout. Facing NORTH while standing in the center of the roundabout. Walk 150 steps. Around 131 steps you will see a Par 3 sign for the disc golf course. At the 150th step mark turn directly WEST and continue another 151 steps. You have now walked 301 steps to signify troop 301 thru our Beacon Hill scouting camp site. Another 11 steps WEST you will find our box hiding under the corner of what could of been the beginning of your path. Thank you for taking this journey with us and learning about our home away from home!
