Box 7
'Stealthy Paws'
Hubbard Valley Park, Medina
Fairly easy terrain

Bring bug spray and a compass. And watch out for those bobcats... :)

~INSTRUCTIONS~

Park in the lot on the West side of Hubbard Valley Road, South of Blake Road. Take the West-bound trail North of the kiosk with the trail map. Cross a metal bridge and circle around the lake, up onto the high bank with the Visitor's Center downhill on the left. Once you're halfway around the lake, take the North fork(not the service road that's, you know, underwater). Notice the abundance of lovely wildflowers! Take the steps down into the field, cross the field, and go up the steps on the other side. Cross two slightly eroded bridges(they're made of pipes covered with packed dirt). Pass a trail marker on the left showing a blue oak leaf inside the blue outline of a square. Sit and chat with Richard on the left...I'm afraid he's not a very talkative fellow, but he's quite good at listening. :) The path split and then meets again; there's an overlook off to one side. Cross a wooden bridge and pass another blue oak leaf post on the right. The trail now heads away from the lake and down into a floodplain, across another pipe bridge and a post with an arrow on the right. Head into the pine forest(note the uncommonly thick undergrowth, mostly of jewelweed) and stop with your sweetie at the proposal tree. Cross a flat wood bridge and stop at the Northeast end. To your left, there's a huge dead tree stump that branches in two directions. The 'Stealthy Paws' Box is in the top of the Western branch(when facing the stump). Continue to the fork, turn right, and cross the bridge. Take another right and you're back at the parking lot. If the stump, say, gets washed away in a flood or something, you can contact me at - tiredmom5kidz@yahoo.com.
