Travel on MT Highway 200 towards Ulm, follow the signs to the First People’s Buffalo Jump State Park.
The bison jump site consists of a mile long sandstone cliff; there are remnants of drive lines on top of the cliff and there are up to 18 ft. of compacted buffalo remains below the cliff. It was used from about 900 A.D. until the 1600s.

Visit the upper visitor’s site and walk the circle to understand the meaning and vastness of the jump.
Once you’ve done the walk, get back in your car and drive to the main visitor’s center and park in the parking lot. Walk around the center (both inside and outside) and learn about the history. Once you have finished, walk up to the visitor’s desk and talk to the Park Ranger or the Assistant. Make sure to sign the visitor’s log. Ask them for the letterbox and return it to them when you are done.
Please make sure and thank them for supporting letterboxing.
