Buffalo Bayou is one of several bayous in the Houston area and is known for its historical significance in the city's early history. Houston's original docks were established at the foot of Main Street at the confluence of Buffalo Bayou and White Oak Bayou in an area of downtown today known as "Allen's Landing", in honor of the founders. But with the recent completion of Buffalo Bayou Park, it has now also become known as a place for recreation. It offers 160 acres of beautiful scenery and skyline views, artwork, a nature play area, dog park, boat launch and rentals, and hike/bike trails. One hiking-only trail is the Green Tree Nature Trail, where this letterbox can be found.

Directions:
From Shepherd Drive go east on Allen Pkwy to just before Waugh Bridge and turn left into Lost Lake area and park.
Clues:
Walk east on the cement hike/bike trail to the Jackson Hill Bridge and cross over Buffalo Bayou. Go right on cement hike/bike trail on other side, going under Waugh bridge, then go left at sign for Green Tree Nature Trail. Go right in a few steps to enter woods and go to wood bridge. After crossing, continue 7 steps and go left off trail 20 steps uphill to 3 medium trees close together in a row. LB is hanging from a small tree behind them about 4 feet high. Leave it attached and just untwist cap to remove and replace contents. You can go back the way you came or continue on to Rosemont Bridge to cross back over and go right to parking lot. It only adds about 0.4 mile and there is a great view of downtown from the bridge.

Hike length: 1 mile
