BOX REPLANTED WITH UPDATED CLUES.
In 1614, the area then known as Nauyang (meaning point of land) was a summer camping ground of the Pequot people. It was later acquired by James Morgan in 1712 and is now a village in the town of Groton. The community grew from a tradition of fishing, lobstering and boat-building. Just some notable people who made their way to this small town, were Amelia Earhart who married here in 1931 and Julia Roberts in 1988 who visits the Lobster Shack (Ford's Lobsters) in the movie Mystic Pizza.
On Route 215 towards Noank, CT you will find the Noank Valley Cemetery. Enter through the main entrance and look up for the young girl sitting peacefully. From the front of the monument, turn 330 degrees NW and walk towards the small white bronze marker with an anthemion flower on its roof. (note: white bronze is made of metal, actually hollow, detailed and in good condition).
In front of the anthemion flower you are going 285 degrees WEST. Avoid swan and look for the eagle. You will know in your heart when you find the right one. Take 14 steps and look under a yellow rock where the āVā for victory stands above.
NOTE: A geocaching box is in the same area so please do not disturb.
Hike length: 0.1 miles
