*** Part of my TX Movies Series ***
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, 0.5 mile RT)
Recommended Ink: orange
Status: alive
My All American is a 2015 movie starring Aaron Eckhart and Finn Wittrock that tells the story of Freddie Steinmark, a Colorado underdog on the University Of Texas football team who faces the toughest challenge of his life after leading his team to a championship season. It is based on the book "Courage Beyond The Game" by Jim Dent and all of it was filmed in Texas. The story is sad but also uplifting and I highly recommend it. I placed this box at a place I think Freddie would have liked: the Bull Creek Nature Preserve above the Bull Creek Greenbelt.
Directions:
Go north on Loop 360 to Hwy 2222 and continue 1.5 miles, passing Lakewood, and turn left across 360 to small road and park in gravel lot next to trail head for Bull Creek Nature Preserve.
Clues:
Walk up to trail head sign and go on trail to its left up to sign about endangered species. Continue left when trail comes in from right to another jct. Go left and down to overlook and enjoy the view. From far end of overlook, go up trail 32 steps then left along rock ledge 15 steps to medium cedar stump. Continue 12 steps then down 5 steps to large cedar stump. LB is within, 2 feet high and under a rock.
Hike length: 0.5 miles
