*** This is a new location for the Music Maker. We arrived in Florida a year after originally planting the box in the Kiwanis Park and found it needed repairs. We replaced the original location, near the alligator in the pond, with a more appropriate carve named "Leif's Gator" and moved this box closer to Grandma and Pop Pop's actual boat - the Music Maker. We also added an extra boat stamp in here for those who already have the original Music Maker carve (which is still in there, too!). This box is planted on private residential property with permission by the homeowners; please be respectful of the property. ***

The Story:

This is my first carve and my 4-year-old son, "Avlis Jr." 's first plant (I think he liked planting better than finding letterboxes). We hope you enjoy and take pitty on my novice carving skills.

We planted this in Port Charlotte near Grandma and Pop Pop's house because, though there are many geocaches in the area, the closest letterbox is 30 minutes to North Port, or 45 minutes south in Fort Myers. Pop Pop is a captain and his boat - which Avlis Jr. loves to "bump" over the waves in Charlotte Harbor on a trip to Fisherman's Wharf in Punta Gorda - is named the Music Maker. We carved this for him. I realized after I carved it that the "music note" in the center of the boat is backwards when you stamp it. Ooops. Did I mention it was my first time? You might get a peak at the actual Music Maker on the boat lift back in the Ackerman Waterway. If it's not there, Pop Pop is bumping it over to Punta Gorda!

Now for the clues:

4035 Rock Creek Drive is on the right side of the road. Park or stop at the red "Yield" sign. Standing at the yield sign and facing south so that Rock Creek Drive is parallel to you on your left side, turn approximately 45 degrees to you right. Take a leisurely 28 steps, walking towards the little grouping of trees and palmettas between the two properties. Music Maker is tucked into a opening in the palmetta a foot or two off the ground and covered with some dried palm fronds. Please tuck it back up off the ground like this so Pop Pop doesn't accidentally hit it with the lawn mower!

We also added a little hitchhiker we picked up at the Fort Worth Stockyards for the first finder of Music Maker in its new location.
