Starting at the parking lot, hike to the top of the trail where you will see a small trail marker with a red arrow. Follow the direction of the arrow to stay on the trail. Cross under the power lines and return to the shelter of the trees. Follow the trail a short distance to the top of the wooden staircase.
This staircase is the one thing that scares my dog in this park, and is the inspiration for the box's hiding place. My dog will not go down these stairs. Too scary, since he can see through the steps! I have noticed over the years that other dogs have the same aversion, so there is a well-trod dog path to the right of the staircase. Follow the dog path about half-way down, to where the staircase takes a left-hand turn. The dog path turns with the staircase and passes under one of the landings half-way down the stairs. Follow the trail under the landing. Directly in front of you is a largish tree, about 10 feet off the trail. The box is at the base of this tree, with a hand-carved miniature stamp of my dog inside.
