On Dec. 23, 1927, a man dressed as Santa Claus and leading a band of four robbed the First National Bank of Cisco. Two people died during the robbery and several others were injured (six of which ultimately died).
The man, whose name was Ratliff, was apprehended and he was being held in the Eastland jail on Nov 19, 1929. That night a mob broke him out of jail and lynched him.
To find the Santa Claus suspects enter Eastland City Cemetery and pass the flags at the war memorial.
Box 1: Turn R on Llano to double trunked tree on the right. Suspect #1 is hiding on the back side of the tree in a crevice at ground level under tree debris.
Box 2: Return to the road you came in on (Leon). Continue and look to your left at the four crape myrtle. Look in the one at the Northwest Corner for Suspect #2.
Hike length: 0.1 miles
