Ready to go on a Quest?

If you have never heard of “Quest Scouts, think scouting for adults! Monthly, theme related “Quests” that offer fun, creative, and challenging objectives to complete in order to earn your “badge”, and allow you to learn and discover some new things along the way!

To complete the “FIND” objective for the “Paper and Ink” Quest Scouts badge, you were challenged to create a Library Letterbox hidden within a library. Library boxes are some of my very favorite Letterbox finds, so here is my “Quest Scouts” inspired Letterbox for you to find!

To discover the location of this letterbox you will need to find the location of this wonderful Public Library, here are your clues:

1) Go to the Quest Scouts web page @ www.questscouts.com
What is the backgrounD color used in the Quest Scouts logo? ___________
This is the first pArt of the to the Location cluE-

2) Re-read clue #1, it will give you the upper hand in finding the second part of the clue? __________

3) Now put these two clues together and you will have the location of the public library that has the letterbox you are looking for, and they also have a BROAD SelecT.ion of great books too!

**Just a HINT, you may want to look up the hours of this library before you begin your quest.**

Once you have found your location, make your way to the front entrance of the Library, but before you enter, walk around to the right to find the book depository. You will see a dedication plaque to the left of it -

a) What is the SECOND number of the DAY of the month in which the Library was Dedicated? ___

Upon entering the Library, you will see a statue of a well know artist immediately to your left –
b) How many letters are in the LAST name of this artist?____

Before you go any further inside, turn to face the entrance you just came in through and look up, above the entrance and around the upper perimeter of the walls are framed front covers of an iconic American magazine-
c) What is the missing number in the decade that is featured directly above the entrance? 19__0’s

Now walk further into the library, directly in front of you is the Check-out desk, to the left of this area is the Resource center-
d) What is the FIRST letter in the LAST name of the person that the Resource center is named after? ___

To the right of the Check-out area you should see the Youth area-
e) How many letters are in the FIRST name of the person this area is named after?_______

For this next clue you may need to do a little research like I did. Libraries categorize books by subject matter using the Dewey Decimal System-
f) What is the FIRST number in the 3-digit category that would be used to categorize books on the subject of “LANGUAGE”___

Now for the last clue, remember the HINT from the beginning-
g) How LATE is the library open on Friday & Saturday nights? ___ p.m.

Once you have found all your clues, put the answers together IN THIS ORDER to reveal the location of this box-

c a b d g e f
__ __ __ __ __ __ __

Now that you have found the box, find a discreet place to stamp in. Please be quiet and respectful of other patrons and return box to correct location when you are finished.

Hope you enjoyed your “Quest” to find this box, and will take some extra time to explore the “Paper and Ink” selections within this Library!

Happy Reading, Questing and Letterboxing!

And a huge THANK YOU to the Library for granting me permission to plant this box!
