Vredespaleis, The Peace Palace, located in The Hague, Netherlands.
The gorgeous building, built in 1913, houses the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration. The building and organizations within it give The Hague city worldwide recognition as The City of Peace and Justice.
Finding a place to plant a letterbox in this city wasn't easy. So I used an old stand-by...a cemetery. It's just around the corner from The Peace Palace.
If you take the #1 tram then exit at Ary van der Spuyweg which turns into Kerkhoflaan.
St. Petrus Banden cemetery
Kerkhoflaan 10, 2585 JB, Den Haag
Hours: M-Sat 10am-4pm, Sun noon-4pm
Passing through the entrance to the cemetery, past the entrance buildings...go left. Past the bike racks on your left, continue walking the path and start counting walkways on your left. Between the 8th & 9th walkway lies Theodora Johanna Maria. Behind her tombstone are 2 bright green cypress bushes. The one between her and Ed Wagemans is the one you want. Now walk behind her tombstone and in the cypress bush about 4 ft up from the ground is the box hanging inside the bush.
Hike length: 0.1 miles
