Welcome to My First Letterbox!
This is a quick and easy find hidden among the trees and ruins within the Wissahickon Creek. Make your way to the Valley Green Inn and park in the parking lot out front. Cross over the Wissahickon Creek via the Valley Green Road bridge and make your first left down wooden stairs and onto the trails. Follow the trails until you find a fire hydrant on you left. Behind the fire hydrant, you will see the ruins of the old bridge that once spanned the Wissahickon creek. It now sits neglected with trees and bushes growing out of it. BE CAREFUL with this next part. You will see a small rusty metal fence that blocks people from falling off the bridge, make your way through it. On the left side of what remains of the bridge, you will see a small tree with a pile of rocks beneath it. Congrats you’ve found it!
While you’re here, visit Devil’s pool if it’s nice enough out. Often considered a right of passage, Devil’s pool is a small hidden cove hidden along the creek. If you choose, you can jump from a 15’ cliff into the pool below. To find Devil’s pool make the first right when you cross the valley green bridge and you will stumble upon it after a 15 minute walk.
After your day in the park, stop in at Valley Green for lunch! They have great food and hospitality! I hope you enjoy this find! Please let me know what you think!
